A hand cast iron hippo statue with a rusted finish.
Though mostly herbivorous, the hippopotamus is unusually aggressive and often regarded as the most dangerous animal in Africa. Despite living almost entirely in water, adult hippos cannot swim and are not even buoyant - they travel by simply leaping from the bottom of the river or lake.
Our hippo statue is similarly hopeless in water, but considerably less violent.
Its rust finish will develop uniquely without any maintenance, and form its own protective seal. If a more uniform finish is desired, the statue can be primed and painted instead.
