COUNTRY GATES & STONE ENTRANCE

Country Gates & Stone Entrance

Our customer's requirement was for two entrances befitting a fine country house, complete with a lived-in look to suit the age of the building itself. They were also required to include the 21st century essentials of electric gates and a security system.

An early model proved unsuitable for the more modern trappings, being a little too accurately reproduced. Our final design became an amalgam of several more compatible period details.

The stone piers were reconstructed from a two-dimensional stone façade salvaged from an Oxford college. The finished result was a perfect realisation of the stone and brick apparent in the images, complete with the appearance of centuries worth of wearing.

The garden walls were reinforced in original brick copying a local buttress style, and capped with a reclaimed Portland stone coping to compliment the old Yew hedge.
